Common Termite Control Questions
It is much more expensive to get an inspection and/or treatment if you are not under an annual contract.
Additionally, unless you are professionally trained in termite inspection you may never know you have termites until they have done substantial damage. The tell tale signs usually only show up in places that are so inaccessible you will not see them.
Many times only a Killingsworth professionally trained inspector can find the termites before they do damage to the structure. Protect your biggest investment by having the insurance of re-treatment and in some cases damage coverage.
Does a renewal cover damage?
You will have to verify that with your Killingsworth Professional. There are many different damage warranties in the market place today and some are better than others. Most damage warranties only pertain to damage from active termites that are present after the treatment. Killingsworth's damage warranty covers any damage that is shown to be free of high moisture and wood to ground contact.
What does a Killingsworth Professional Technician look for during an annual termite re-inspection?
In most cases, he will do a visual inspection for signs of termites in the exposed wood under your structure and around the exterior of your home. They may also tap on or probe exposed wooded members of your structure to look for soft spots in the wood. There are areas of your home that are not accessible and cannot be viewed during the inspection. Coverage on your home is critical because termites, by nature, do not necessarily show up in the accessible areas of your home or structure because they protect themselves from light. In many cases, there can be damage made from the inside of the wood. If at any time the termites are exposed to light, they simply fill in the holes with dirt, making it camouflaged to the untrained eye.
I am never home when my pest management company comes to inspect. Should I require them to go inside my house?
Yes. You should call your PMP and request that they come back and inspect the entire home, when you are present. Typically, an inspection just around the exterior is not enough to detect termites.
What do I get for my termite renewal payment each year?
Because the laws differ from state to state, the only thing a Pest Management Professional can legally provide is an interior and exterior inspection and re-treatment of your home, should termites re-appear. You must review your Termite Renewal Agreement carefully with your Killingsworth Professional. Be sure you understand your warranty and ask any questions you may have pertaining to your coverage.
What happens if I do not renew my termite Agreement?
Your home will no longer be covered for termites and Killingsworth is no longer responsible for continuing protection to your home at the original renewal price. You may have a Renewal Agreement that is far less expensive than the termite protection you would be offered today. We recommend that you continue to renew your Agreement so that your home is inspected and covered and you are protected by the high cost of having your home retreated.
