Hi folks, I'm Mike Rogers, President of Killingsworth Environmental. First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to watch this presentation. You know your home is your oasis, your place to relax and your place to entertain. You don't want anything to ruin an afternoon or evening cookout, but we all know about those little bloodsuckers called mosquitoes. Well, I'm here to talk to you about how Killingsworth Environmental mosquito control can help eliminate mosquitoes, and give you your home and your yard back.
Did you know that there are over 3500 species of mosquitoes known to man? The only place on earth that is mosquito-free is Antarctica. Mosquitoes are like little hypodermic needles. The females of many species of mosquitoes are blood-eating pests, in feeding on the blood of sick birds and other sick animals, some of them transmit extremely harmful human and livestock diseases, such as malaria, yellow fever, and as everyone knows from last year, the West Nile virus.
According to the Center for Disease Control, or CDC, there were over 5,387 reported cases of West Nile virus in the U.S in 2012. Out of those 5,387, 243 people tragically passed away from this disease, which was a direct result from a mosquito bite. North and South Carolina alone had 37 cases and 5 deaths in 2012. Some authorities argue accordingly that mosquitoes are the most dangerous animals on Earth.
The most common mosquito in this region is the Asian Tiger mosquito. This mosquito has become a significant pest in many communities because it's closely associated with humans, rather than living in wetlands, and typically flies and feeds in the daytime, in addition to at dusk and dawn. The insect is called a Tiger mosquito because its striped appearance is similar to a tiger. Although they are prone to bite humans, your pets are also targets for mosquitoes. If your pet were to get bitten by a mosquito that is harboring the heartworm parasite, there could be a chance that your pet could develop heartworms. It general takes six to seven months for the heartworm larva to develop. If left untreated it could be fatal.
Mosquitoes can breed in any type of standing water, so it is important to eliminate any and all forms of standing water around your home.A study was done on a mosquito breeding and it was discovered that inside a bottle cap there were up to 24 mosquito larva’s present. Can you imagine what a tarp filled will water, or birdbath, could produce?
We can provide you with a routine mosquito treatment every month. Our mosquito specials are equipped with products and equipment specifically manufactured for the fight against mosquitoes. Each one of our mosquito specialists uses a high powered backpack blower that produces a fog that they apply to the underside of trees on your property. Since most mosquitoes like to rest during the daytime under the leaves of trees, this is a prime target area for our specialist.
We also apply larvacide inside the gutters on the first floor of your home. Since mosquitoes can harbor within any type of standing water, the larvacide eliminates any eggs that could be in your gutters. One thing that we are very cautious about are your pets. That's why we don't perform any service while your pets are outdoors. We provide you with a courtesy call 24 to 48 hours prior to your scheduled service to remind you about putting your pets indoors until the service has been completed.
Each one of our mosquito specialists are equipped with iPads, giving them the ability to schedule any one of our services for you, and check your next scheduled service on the spot. You don't have to worry about filling out paperwork and risk losing it or having it accidentally thrown away, because everything we do is electronic. Another great feature about Killingsworth Environmental mosquito control is that you will see the same specialist for each service. We don't send different specialists each time to your home, causing you to have to explain your situation over and over again.
